Meskipun sebaiknya rasa marah itu dilepaskan saja dan jangan disimpan, “Apakah kalau marah dilepaskan lantas kita menjadi puas? Apa bukan sebaiknya justru menyebabkan orang yang dimarahi menjadi sakit dan akhirnya menimbulkan persoalan baru ?” Lalu bagaimana baiknya? “Yang baik adalah kalau merasa marah, kita redam dan netralisir dengan diri sendiri sambil menyelesaikan pokok permasalahan yang dihadapi,”

Dalam berbagai kasus, seseorang yang terbiasa marah secara agresif bisa dilatih untuk mengendalikan emosi. Caranya dengan mencari penyebab munculnya letupan marah tersebut. Misalnya pada kasus dimana rasa marah muncul untuk menutupi rasa kurang percaya diri, terapi yang dilakukan terlebih dahulu difokuskan pada upaya membangkitkan rasa percaya diri.

Sebetulnya melatih diri mengelola amarah merupakan hal yang memang patut dilakukan, terutama untuk meningkatkan kualitas diri. Sekarang ini kualitas manusia tidak hanya ditentukan oleh IQ (Intelligence Quotient), tapi juga oleh EQ (Emotional Quotient).

Sebelum Anda Marah
Untuk menghindari hal-hal yang tidak diinginkan, menurut Kristi, ada yang perlu dilakukan sebelum mengekspresikan rasa marah:
1. Posisikan diri sebagai obyek marah. Pantaskah saya marah dan pantaskah dia saya marahi?
2. Berpikirlah untuk jangka panjang. Pikirkan apa dampaknya bila emosi marah dituruti, seperti bisa merusak hubungan dengan pihak yang bersangkutan.
3. Lakukan time out, dengan cara meninggalkan ruangan atau tempat dimana marah Anda terpicu.
4. Lakukan rileksasi dengan menghirup napas panjang untuk menenangkan diri.

Selintas hal-hal di atas terdengar mudah tapi bagi meraka yang mempunyai problem dalam mengontrol rasa marahnya hal di atas cukup sulit dilakukan

1. Saat saya dihina atau diejek orang lain
2. Ketika berkendaraan kemudian orang lain dengan sengaja menyalip dengan cara tidak yang sopan.
3. Ketika saya berbicara namun orang lain seolah cuek tidak menghiraukan.
4. Ketika ada masalah pribadi yang diungkit-diungkit.
5. Masalah yang satu belum selesai malah ketambahan masalah lagi.
